Go see The Abandoned.
Wednesday, February 28th, 2007Nacho Cerdà (Aftermath, Genesis) directs The Abandoned, an excellent ghost story with brutal gore and a dark, horrifying atmosphere. The plot may not be terribly complicated but the film is saved by good performances and an unrelenting sense of dread. Anastasia Hille (The Hole) and Karel Roden (Hellboy) are fantastic in their simply written yet stark roles. The Abandoned is a film that one is easily lost in with horrors waiting around every corner. The Bulgarian locations are stunning and haunting. Nacho Cerdà is, without a doubt, one of the new heavies in the realm of talented horror film directors.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but it seems that Lionsgate has done something right. The Abandoned is my favorite horror film of 2007 (and it’s only February). I urge all horror movie fans to check this out. Do it, duders!
