Ah, my favorite kind of research…

Day Of The Dead

Once again I have delved into the seedy underbelly of horror adverts from the world of old newspaper. This time I tried to focus on Halloween movie marathons but I got distracted along the way. These are from The Tampa Tribune in the early to mid 80’s. The one exception is from the L.A. Times but it’s a hot one. Check these bad boys out.

The Dark

I stumbled upon some cool odds and ends that I wanted to share with y’all. These are some horror movie advertisements from the 70s and early 80s from local Tampa papers. It’s amazing to see how lurid the old taglines were. My favorite ones are the horror matinĂ©es. As the “grindhouse” movie experience becomes more and more celebrated lately, I can’t help but imagine how badass it was for folks to be able to attend little events like these at their local drive-ins and trashy dive theaters. Good stuff.
